Lansing Township Supervisor Creates Community Food Pantry

Lansing Township- Supervisor Dion’trae Hayes is creating a community winter food pantry in Township Hall. Hayes calls it an “accessible resource” for those in need. When asked why she felt this was necessary she stated, “This pantry will provide essentials to those who need it most. I know what it feels like to survive on just $20 two weeks before your next paycheck. I had to stretch it to pay for gas to get to work and used the balance to buy food. For someone facing a similar situation, receiving a few food items during those times can really make a big difference.”

Supervisor Hayes continues to display her passion for serving the community by funding and organizing the pantry. She encourages those interested in donating to contact her office. When asked what the requirements are to receive food Supervisor Hayes said, “There are no age or proof of income requirements. These items are free and available to any Township resident who needs them”.

The Community Winter Food Pantry opens on Friday November 17, 2017 and runs through March 9, 2018. For more information please call (517) 485-2272.
